- Can also be used as a bleaching agent and stain remover. Instructions for use For hygiene reasons, disposable gloves should be worn during each procedure. For the horse’s comfort, do not use cold water.
- Squeeze a generous amount of Excalibur® from the tube onto your palm and apply it to the horse’s vulva.
- Work the product well into the folds. Leave for 3–5 minutes to soften.
- Next, gently pull the horse’s penis out of the sheath and, using a cotton swab, gently remove the smegma. Occasionally, smegma accumulates in a ‘blind pocket’ above the opening of the urethra at the tip of the penis. If not removed, this can lead to difficulties when urinating.
- Once all the smegma has been removed, rinse the horse’s vulva and penis as thoroughly as possible using clean water. If the horse will tolerate a gentle stream of water, this may be used to rinse the genitals. STALLIONS: A breeding stallion should be cleaned at least every 6 months; horses with light pigmentation around the genitals (such as Pintos) tend to produce more bodily secretions and debris, so more frequent cleaning is recommended. MARES: Dirt most commonly accumulates between the udders. This dirt can lead to irritation, resulting in the mare rubbing and scraping her tail.
